BULLY AND OTHER INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR: CLARIFYING THE ISSUES AND RESPONDING TO THE PROBLEM

Covering terminology and issues associated with workplace bullying and how these issues relate to other problematic behaviors such as harassment and discrimination. Typical tactics used by perpetrators will be discussed as well as the various types of bullying (e.g., serial bullying, vicarious bullying, and organizational bullying) that have been identified in the workplace. The empirical evidence regarding the prevalence, demographics and effects of bullying will be reviewed, followed by a discussion of actions an employer can take both to prevent bullying from occurring and to remediate bullying behavior once it has occurred.
