    The Art of Listening

    Presented by:  Yvette Marsh
                            Senior Director of Talent Management
                            LSU Foundation

With over 25 years of experience in the field of human resource management, Yvette is currently employed as the Senior Director of Talent Management for the LSU Foundation where she is responsible for the oversight of all talent management and human resource functions:  recruitment and staffing, benefits, classification and compensation, professional development, employee relations, payroll, performance management, and leadership development.  She previously served as the Director of Training and Development for Louisiana State University and as a consultant with SSA Consultants, an internationally recognized organizational development firm.  Her educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, a master’s degree in Information Systems and Decision Sciences, and a doctorate in Human Resource Education with an ISDS minor, all from Louisiana State University.  She has served on various boards during her career, including the YWCA Greater Baton Rouge, the American Institute of Banking, the Baton Rouge Crisis Intervention Center, LSU’s Swine Palace, and Campus Federal Credit Union.

Listening is one of the most underrated, but critical, skills that an HR professional can possess. The ability to master this skill can not only be the factor that differentiates good from great, but it can also evoke cultural change.  Join us as Yvette Marsh, senior director of talent management at the LSU Foundation, shares how the art of listening has positively impacted her role at her organization.

    Presentation Learning Objectives:

    • Employ strategies to better engage listeners.
    • Apply new skills actively in the working environment and how doing so can positively impact organizational culture.
    • Describe steps to become a better listener.
