    November 19, 2015

Greater Baton Rouge Society for Human Resource Management (GBR SHRM) Awards Scholarship

GBR SHRM awarded a $1,000 scholarship to Bethany Roussel Louisiana State University. This scholarship was awarded at the GBR SHRM Monthly Chapter Meeting on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at Juban’s.

Bethany Roussel  has been passionate about Human Resources ever since she returned from a year abroad where she had the opportunity to lead training courses for international managers within a software development company. After returning to the United States, she immediately applied for the Masters of Human Resource Education program, electing Leadership Development as her focus. She joined SHRM that first semester of graduate school and was elected as President of the LSU chapter for the following academic school year.  During this time, she gained valuable experience working with Chicago Bridge and Iron in Human Resources, as well as serving as a Graduate Assistant for LSU HR and an HR faculty professor. Last summer, she successfully completed an internship with ExxonMobil where she had the chance to learn more about global HR policy design, HR compensation strategies and how to utilize analytics to guide decision making. She was the first Master’s student from her program to ever receive a full-time offer in HR from ExxonMobil. She looks forward to starting her career with them upon graduation here in Baton Rouge. Bethany is an avid world traveler and speaks three foreign languages including Spanish, Bulgarian and Portuguese.  Her other hobbies include hiking, playing tennis, DIY furniture making and reading.
